Differences Between Web Designing and Web Development
Web designing encompasses a variety of disciplines and skills in the creation and maintenance of web sites. The various disciplines of web designing include web graphic design; web authoring, which include user-friendly application and exclusive software; graphic design and interactive web design; and search engine marketing. A web designer can specialize in one or more of these disciplines to focus their development on specific needs of clients.
Before web designing, there are many considerations to make, which will determine the end product. One of these is the layout. Most websites are designed using a single template that makes them look very similar. However, more complicated websites follow a different format in which the page elements are arranged. This means that web designers have to play more than one role at a time. They must first decide how each element will fit on the page and what information the visitor should be exposed to first.
The second step in web designing involves web development. The web developers create the code for the web pages by creating a series of specifications that describe the look and feel of the website. Many developers use a system of templates in developing web designs. Once the layout and content have been decided upon, a web developer uses a system of computer-aided programs (CAD) or computer-aided design (CAD/CAE) programs to create the actual visual appearance of the site. Some web designers also use additional computer-programming languages in developing web pages, but web development is the most common method of web designing.
Web development is the process of turning a virtual prototype into a working version of the site. It is also used to implement business strategies and operational procedures for a website. An additional major component of web designing is web designing software. There are many different types of web designers software programs available on the market today, and each type has its own specific capabilities. Some web designers use a WYSIWYG editor, where they write all of the code, while others use text editors to enter in HTML or XHTML codes into the web pages.
Another major difference between web designing and web development is that web designers can often work on the site full-time and do freelance work from home. They work closely with the company that created the websites until the project is completed. Web developers are typically an independent contractor, working from the comfort of their own home. The main difference between the two jobs is that web designers usually have more input into the layout and content of the website. Web developers must rely on the designers’ notes and ideas to make any changes to the site.
